JOEY VERA: ARMORED SAINT To Play 'Cozy 50-Minute Set' Opening For SCORPIONS

July 8, 2005

Bassist extraordinaire Joey Vera (ARMORED SAINT, FATES WARNING, ANTHRAX) has posted the following message on his official web site:

"I know, it's been a while eh? Well, here's the latest poop from my end of the world.

"Plain and simple, I'm enjoying some 'down time,' although I am not exactly sitting around the house waiting for reality television to fill my life. But suffice to say I've been taking it easy for the most part.

"I've been helping out my friends MOTHER SUPERIOR with a few remixes for their upcoming new record titled 'Moanin'', which should come out by September. I mixed 2 songs and did the mastering for the whole record. Finished all that this week. What a killer record. For more info go to this location.

"A few weeks ago I began writing and recording for what will eventually end up being my second solo record. I've got stuff I've been collecting for several years now so expect another sequence of varied songs. I hope to have it finished by the end of the year. I'll worry about stuff like titles, distributors and art later. Right now I'm just writing, so get off my planet! (Just kidding, of course, you can stay.) My playing has taken a back seat for a while as I've injured my left pinky (hey, I really need it) whilst working on a door with a wood chisel. It's bad enough to keep me off the guitar and bass for a month and left me doodling solely in Midi world. Mouse, click, click, click. Now my right forefinger's killing me!

"Last week ARMORED SAINT got an offer to play an opening slot for the SCORPIONS in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, July 30. After much consideration, we decided to do it. Mind you, it's only one show and we're really just doing it for the fun of it. We have no plans to do any other shows or get together for any writing or recording. I say that because I've already gotten several emails with regard to 'many questions.' Whether or not SAINT will make another record is still shrouded in mystery, even to me. For right now we are playing one show opening for the SCORPIONS in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, July 30 (provided my left pinky doesn't get all infected and fall off). Doors are at 7 p.m., we go on at 8 o'clock. We'll play a cozy 50-minute set and the show is at the Dodge Theater in downtown Phoenix.

"That's about it for now but as always a couple of things brewing for late summer and fall. More to come..."
